Christmas Tag!

I’m a big fan of Christmas and this time of year in general. Always a good chance to look back at all the things you’ve achieved over the year and the lovely people that are in your life. Quite fitting then that the very lovely Kimberly from Media Mummy tagged me in this Christmas post!

So here we go…

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Yes but not since I was still in short trousers. Not short trousers during the snow of course as that would be impractical. Either way it was years and years ago and it would be nice to have some this year instead of rain and general gloom!

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

At home! We never go away for Christmas so generally we’re at home or at one of our parents’ houses for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

I always liked listening to Driving Home For Christmas during the drive home from work for the last time before the big day. The Pogues is a classic too of course.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Yes, but only because it’s my birthday on Christmas Eve!

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Um. Donner, Blitzen, Prancer, Dancer and Rudolph are the obvious ones. Is Dasher one? For some reason names of the 7 dwarfs keep popping into my head!!

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

We don’t have many traditions to be honest. Unless excessive food and alcohol consumption count as traditions. In which case, those.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

It’s ‘real’ as in it exists. But it’s fake. Big and fake and a bugger to erect each year.

What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?

Lindt orange chocolate balls. Some may have fallen accidently into my shopping basket earlier in Sainsbury’s…

Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?

Giving. As long as the recipient likes them. Receiving is quite stressful I find, especially if you hate the things you’re being given! I’m not one for being in the Spotlight so giving is much more relaxing!

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

Most exciting at the time was my first ever computer when I was probably 6 or 7. A Spectrum +3. Very epic at the time!

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Lapland or somewhere similar probably. I think I’d always want to be at home though.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I’m average at best. Sarah likes fannying around with ribbons and bows etc. I’m more of a simple wrapping man, generally without tags and with limited tape! You generally need an axe to get into presents that my mum wraps as she tapes every available crevice with military precision.

Most memorable Christmas moment?

Playing board games as a child! Christmas evening was always about playing board games that I got for Christmas. Also that awesome feeling as a child when you walk down the stairs to see the tree lights are on and the mince pie has been eaten. Proper hair on back of neck standing up moment!

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

Truth? What truth?

What makes the holidays special for you?

This year it’ll be seeing the little one’s reactions as he properly understands the whole concept this year! It’ll make Christmas magical all over again! Also stuffing. Lots of stuffing.

And that was that! So, without prompting I nominate Rachel and Terry-Ann from Our Rach Blogs and Notaneffingfairytaleblog.
