Over the past few years, Sussex has emerged as a popular tourist destination. There are many reasons why this is the case. A lot of people like to go because of the array of beautiful holiday cottages in the area. Some people love the historic county because of the huge amount of attractions and scenic views. And then there are others who like to go to Sussex because of the selection of exciting events and festivals that take place throughout the year. If you fall into the latter category then here are some fantastic festivals you should consider going to whilst visiting Sussex over the summer period…

Vintage and Steam Festival

If you are a fan of old steam engines, model boats, vintage buses, steam lorries and traction engines, then this is a festival not to be missed. The event is great for families and takes place in August at the Weald and Download in Chichester. There will also be music on as well.

Binsted Strawberry Fair

This will be the 32nd year of the annual Strawberry Fair in Binsted. It takes place on Sunday the 21st of July and is a great way to wind down your weekend. You can indulge in some gorgeous homemade cakes and jams, there is a Pimm’s tent for the adults, and there is face painting for the children as well as lots of games and activities. And that’s without even mentioning the famous strawberry tea!

Charity Car Show

If you have an interest in classic cars then you will love the Charity Car Show. In fact, if you have your own classic vehicle then you can take it down on the day and enter free of charge. Companies like Really Easy Car Credit can help you find something impressive before the event. Aside from the fantastic selection of cars, there will also be an array of stalls, food, and a bouncy castle for the children.

Chichester International Film Festival

The great thing about the Chichester International Film Festival is that it takes place between August 13th and 30th, meaning that you have plenty of time to get yourself down to Chichester and enjoy the experience. The launch begins with two open-air screenings at Priory Park and then there are lots of fantastic events from then onwards. More details about the films on display will be released at the beginning of July, however, you can find a lot of information online about the event in 2019 and so it is certainly worth checking this out so that you can get a good idea regarding the sort of things that go on.

Brighton Food and Drink Festival

And last but not least, a food and drink festival is something everybody can definitely enjoy. There an array of fantastic events taking place during the ten days, including; the Big Sussex Market, Brighton Beer Cider and Sussex Wine Festival, The Great Vegan Maki Challenge, Brighton Mix-Off Cocktail Competition, International Chef Exchange Dinner, Make Your Case, Wine Tasting, and The Big Debate.
