At some point in the last few days the little one has decided that ‘wanting’ things is no longer sufficient. Oh no no no. Now he ‘needs’ things. It’s not even a understated everyday ‘need’. It’s a prolonged emotional ‘NEEEEEEEEEEEED’.
‘Daddy I NEEEEEEEEED my doc doc set’.
‘Daddy I NEEEEEEEEED my sheepy’.
When did wanting things stop being sufficient?! And does he actually now believe he needs things rather than wanting them? Or did perhaps someone use the word ‘need’ on the new series of Peppa Pig and it’s stuck in his head?
I’m assuming the latter.
He’s also entered, hopefully temporarily, the ‘Why?’ zone. So far it’s been tolerable as when he gets an answer he does tend to accept it and move on. But I’m pretty confident this won’t last!
I feel I’m partially to blame for this one – after all, some of the bizarre things he does has left me asking him ‘why?’ over the past few weeks! As in why do we now have to pretend to cook pretend food on his tummy? Why does he feel the need to destroy the bridge section of his wooden train set with a spatula repeatedly? Why does he rotate constantly when the microwave is on? Why does he start dancing whenever he sees a colour changing light?
Fortunately all of those things are very cute. Aside from the train track destruction, as per my last post! Let’s hope he’ll ease off on the whys at some stage – even if it’s not until he’s learnt absolutely everything there is to know in the world!
In other news, the last week was a bit of a busy one in my online life, not least because I launched a new humour-based parenting website with the award winning Fran from Whinge Whinge Wine!
It all started on Thursday with a throwaway statement from my good self that we should do a funny parenting website one day. Six days later and we launched the thing having bought a domain and hosting, designed banners / buttons / pages / layouts etc, set up all the social media stuff and got some awesomely funny parents to let us use some of their funniest blogs to help launch it!
If you haven’t seen it yet please pop along to You Have To Laugh and let us know what you think! And if you have any funny parenting articles that you’d like us to put on there for you send them in!
Between looking after an awesome toddler and a newborn website it’s been a busy old week but it just goes to show what you can achieve when you put your mind to it!
And relax…
